  • Can I automatically lock the door at night?

Yes, the petWALK pet door offers you two options:   About timing. While controlling the door by using the motion sensor you can set the outlet time freely. When controlling the pet door with RFID chips, you can specify the outlet time for each of your pets individually.    About dawn control. The petWALK pet door has standardly integrated a dawn sensor. You can individually set the dawn value to set the time, when your pet door should remain closed. To ensure that your stray cat can come home even after programming a dawn value, you can allow this on your individual level.
  • Is a foreign pet allowed to enter my house by using the petWALK pet door, when it is following my pet?

If the access control is turned on, the petWALK pet door only opens for your pet and closes once it has entered and has moved away from the door. If an animal follows in a very short distance, it cannot be denied to enter your home.
  • Does the door also open, if a foreign, also chipped, pet tries to enter?

No, the petWALK pet door only opens for "taught" pet chips and only in hours you have allowed them to. For using this program, the access control must be switched on.
  • Is it possible, that some of my pets are kept outside, while others are allowed to pass?

Yes, petWALK pet doors individually allow your pets whether the set starting time is valid, or whether it can be fully used.
  • Can the petWALK pet door refuse certain pets to leave the house?

Yes, the petWALK pet door can not only regulate the entrance but also the exiting. Unlike any other product on the market, this pet door can read the chip within a distance about 20cm on both sides. So you have the ability to set the appropriate curfew for each pet. So for example sick or young animals are deliberately kept in the house while the rest of your pack can normally go into the garden. You can also program that getting out is controlled by the motion control, but the entering is only permitted by wearing a pet chip.

  • Can the petWALK pet door be used in a way that my pet cannot go outside during rain, but can still come home?

Of course! With the optional wireless rain sensor the petWALK pet door can change to collecting mode, if a special rain amount is reached. In this mode, no animals are allowed to go outside; pets which are outside at the moment are of course still allowed to back home. So you can protect your home from dirty paws. You can also set a drying time after a downpour in advance. After this time, your pets can use the petWALK pet door as usual.
  • The petWALK pet door does not spot the microchip of my pet.

If the pet door does not detect the chip of your pet , please check the following points first: 1. Is the pet door switched on? (Time and power indicator light) 2. Is your pet chip taught? If not, refer to the manual to see more on this topic. If the chip cannot be detected repeatedly, this can happen for several reasons: 1. Moving of the chip in the animal’s body If the microchip is moving in the animal’s body, the reading distance for reliable detection could become too large (secure recognition from approx. 20cm) . Fortunately, moving animal chips are very rare, as they are coated with a tissue fixation. In this case, the insertion of a further chip or the use of a chip on the collar may be required. Your veterinarian will advise you. From our experience we know that the new biopolymer chips from Virbac practically do not migrate . 2. Pet chip is not suitable. Another problem for incorrect working chip may be a chip not suitable for petWALK pet doors. The FDX-B chips, commonly used in Europe, are certainly suitable for a pet door. The older FDX -A chips, which are not suitable for controlling the petWALK pet doors, are used only occasionally in non- EU countries. 3. The distance between the antenna and the animal is too large. For technical reasons, the reading range can vary depending on the chip manufacturer. When using implanted chips with high quality the read range lies between 25 - 30 cm. In general, a greater range is reached by using a chip attached at the collar. Therefore, we recommend using the supplied chip trailers during the habituation phase. If your pet got to know the new gained freedom, it will learn very quickly how to get the most optimal effect. 4. The implanted pet chip does not work. The easiest way to locate the chip and to check its function is to check the position and range of the pet chip by a vet. The pet chip handheld scanner does not have the same range as the petWALK pet door. A well -functioning chip should have the reading range of at least 5 cm. If the reading range is less than 5 cm or the pet chip was moving too far down into the chest area, the implantation of an additional chip or the usage of a collar ship should be discussed with greater range with our vet. 5. Usage of laptop or flat panel, TFT within reach of the petWALK pet door Notebooks , netbooks, computers , televisions with LCD screen can work in similar frequency ranges as the petWALK pet door. If you pay attention to a minimum distance of 2-3 m away from the pet door, there may not be interferences.
  • Motion detector does not respond after resetting the parameters.

If pet doors are shipped before October 2013, it can happen in certain rare cases, that motion detectors on the inside and outside do not work properly after resetting the parameters to the factory setting (see manual 9.9.1) or after resetting your settings (see manual 9.9.2). So the petWALK pet door does not react to movement any more. This error can be corrected very easily by switching the pet door to the operating state Sleep (press RED button on the remote control; the mode icon will glow RED), and then switch off the power supply (pull the plug or switch off the fuse by using a flush-mounted power supply). After a few moments, you can connect the pet door to the power supply and start the operation. Both motion detectors will respond as usual.
