petWALK pet doors are primarily made of polyurethane integral skin foam (PU for short). Polyurethanes present no health risk and therefore can be found almost everywhere: in the chair on which you sit, in the bed where you sleep, in the house in which you live and even in your car.

Due to the increasing energy prices in the recent years and the ecological problems caused by us humans, the importance of good building insulation is generally understood.

Nevertheless animal lovers are forced up today to accept a massive insulation inflict, if the want to allow their four-legged friends free access to the garden.

Conventional flaps made ​​of hard plastic without any insulating can be seen as as a hole in the house and a thermal bridge.

petWALK have an U-value of less than 0.7 W/m²  in the Passive House version, which equals passive house windows. That way each house could save energy of more than 500kw /year!

If all pet doors would offer the same airtight sealing and thermal insulating of a petWALK door, we could save up to 3 million tons of CO2 each year - which is the average CO2 emissions of nearly 3,500 small cars - this savings could reduce the CO2 "paw print" per animal by approximately 11%.

Conventional pet flaps are mounted from a building physics perspective on the wrong side of the building. The reduced surface temperature on the inside and the associated condensation cause great danger of mold formation. petWALK doors - just like good windows - are located in the insulation level of the building and thus avoid a shift of the dew point. Due to the very good insulation they offer also on cold days sufficiently high surface temperature on the inside and therefore avoid condensation. These facts effectively prevent mold growth.

PetWALK pet doors cannot be compared to other pet flaps. They are full-fledged entrance doors with built-openers and electronic lock. As a result, they are totally windproof, have good thermal insulation and are also totally safe. They can also flexibly be integrated with interchangeable decorations to your home.
