  • Should my cat be microchipped so that my petWALK pet door is working?

    No, the petWALK pet doors work without pet chips, but you must give up the access control functions, i.e. you cannot lock e.g. foreign pets.
  • How can the petWALK pet door lock completely, so no more pets are allowed to get in or out?

    The easiest way is to press the Sleep button on the supplied remote control. Then the sleep symbol flashes red on the display of your pet door, so you can be sure that the petWALK pet door is firmly closed and is not operating.
  • Can I variably adjust the opening duration of the petWALK pet door?

    Yes, you can freely set the period, in which the pet door stays open. The set period of time determines how long the door remains open after the last detected movement.
  • How much time does my pet have to enter the door when the petWALK pet door is open?

    You can set the opening time of the petWALK  pet door individually. But do not worry! The petWALK pet door detects whether your pet is still in the pivoting area of ​​pet door. Even if your dreamy cat prefers watching the garden motionless from its safe home, the petWALK pet door waits after the last detected movement from the set opening time. Then it will try  to invite your cat to leave this area with a beep and a gentle nudge. If this fails after several attempts, the petWALK pet door switches into an alarming state. But it will keep trying to close the pet door.
  • Can I adjust the petWALK pet door in a way that my pets are allowed to get out, but not allowed to leave the house?

    You can determine for each animal, whether or under which circumstances it is allowed to use your petWALK pet door. So you can choose, which pet is allowed to enter the house, but is not allowed to leave it. One request your petWALK pet door has options for an individually selected time window (e.g. after 22:00), or when it gets dark, or if it starts to rain, or if the power supply fails.
  • Can a petWALK pet door also recognize older FDX-A chips?

    No, these chips have a 10-digit identification number. Today 15-digit FDX-B chip numbers are common with a country code in Europe. The FDX-A pet chips, however, are not common in Europe. It could happen that an imported (from overseas) pet is equipped with such a chip. In this case you can use a RFID fob, or your vet additionally injects a corresponding chip.
  • Does the use of DECT phones, WiFi, computer, monitor and mobile interfere with the petWALK pet door?

    The frequency of the RFID chip is standardized and must not be used by other radio-based devices. The mentioned devices work in other frequency ranges, but impairments caused by interference can never be entirely excluded. But no case of impairment is known until now.
  • Is it possible that a foreign pet has the same microchip number and enters the house?

    No, because the identification number of each microchip is globally unique, so it is impossible that a foreign animal has the same chip number.
  • How does the petWALK pet door know about my cat’s microchip number?

    For teaching a new microchip, you must enter the learning mode of the petWALK door. Afterwards your pet must enter the pet door once. The pet door reads the chip code, which stores the unique identification number, saves it and recognizes the chip after this teaching process.
  • What is a pet chip and how does it work?

    The microchip is protected by an only 12 x 2mm histocompatible bioglass pipe. It corresponds to the ISO standard DIN / ISO 11784/11785 with a globally unique 15-digit code number. So it is guaranteed that your pet can be identified with an ISO-compliant reader. The ISO transponders cannot impair the pet. It is briefly activated by low-frequency radio waves of the reader during the reading process, and then sends only the number to the reader. Then it rests passive again in your pet.
